GENERAL INFO
TANGO NUEVO is a dance style which has been developing since the 90s in reaction to new tendencies in tango music and searching for freedom in movement. It is characterised by more relaxed embrace and, as a result, increased movement extension and creativity. Embrace and distance in the couple are variable and so is the axis of both dancers which provides new space for expression.
Having said that, TANGO NUEVO is not a new dance! It is based on tango technique and division of roles in the couple (leader - follower). It provides a new space and movement dimension to tango which has never stopped developing and changing.
THURSDAY TANGO NUEVO OPEN CLASSES
Every Thursday 18:15-19:30 from 8 January we offer TANGO NUEVO OPEN CLASSES which are followed by PRAKTILONGA 50:50 at 19:30-21:00.
Participants are expected to possess knowledge of tango basics. No previous registration needed. You can come take part in any class which are designed as individual units. You can buy ticket to 1 class or get a pack of 5 or 10 classes at a reduced price.
COURSE CONTENT
TANGO NUEVO OPEN CLASSES show the differences between traditional and nuevo styles. Students are introduced to basic principles of Tango Nuevo as changing of close and open embrace, elasticity, creativity and playing with axis. Each lesson focus on one topic/figure characteristic of Tango Nuevo style. Participants are provided with space for their own creativity.
VENUE
The courses take place in a beautiful historical dance hall of SVČ "JEDNIČKA" (FREE TIME CENTER PRAGUE 1), TRUHLÁŘSKÁ STREET 8 (see map) with quality wooden floor and separate dressing rooms.
REGISTRATION
No previous registration needed. Tickets on the spot.
LECTURERS
The courses are lead by JAN and YULIA, experienced lecturers with more than 20 years of dancing and teaching practice. As a dance couple they have solid roots in traditional tango which they like to alternate with nuevo style. They both studied with famous dancers in Europe and in Buenos Aires. And they keep studying even now because they see tango as a "neverending journey".
